Jim Furyk – Nominee for Humanitarian of the Year

One of the most recognizable names on the PGA circuit, Jim Furyk shows his drive goes beyond just the tee box.

The former PGA Player of the Year in 2010 launched the Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation that same year to help bring awareness and funding to a variety of charities in the North Florida Area to provide help to children and families in need.

The hallmark event put on by Furyk’s Foundation is the Furyk and Friends Concert and Celebrity Golf Classic, with brings together celebrities from the world of music and sports for a weekend long event. The 2017 event raised close to $600,000, a record for the seven-year event, with $75,000 alone raised through a silent auction.

Those funds go to support several organizations that include: The First Tee, Blessings in a Backpack, Operation Shower, Community PedsCare, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Monique Burr Foundation for Children, MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation and PGA Reach.

A native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Furyk played college golf at the University of Arizona where he was a two-time All-American and led the school to its first ever NCAA Golf Championship in 1992. He turned pro in 1992 and joined the PGA Tour where he was won 16 tournament titles, including the 2003 U.S. Open. Furyk won three tournament titles in 2010 – the TOUR Championship, Transitions Champioship, Heritage – which helped earn him the Fed Ex Cup title and Player of the Year honors.

Furyk has been named to the USA Ryder Cup team nine times and is a seven-time member of the Presidents Cup team. He ranks fourth on the all-time PGA Tour Career Earnings list, is one of just three players to finish inside the top 15 of the Fed Ex Cup standings in each of the first four seasons of the playoff. At the 2013 BMW Championship, Furyk became just the sixth player in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59.
